• The first project meeting

        • After a long journey by train, on Saturday 10th6.2018 we arrived to Deva. We got off the train with excitement and curiosity, where our students were greeted by their host families with great love. They received the first hugs shyly. Next morning, our Romanian partners welcomed us at school with bread and salt. After the greeting ceremony, we walked around the school and discovered Déva. We could meet with the school inspectors and the City Mayor. We could enjoy the official opening ceremony of the project meeting in the park, and we visited a gym, where olympic athletes grow up, we could admire the talent of these students in a short performance. At the end of the day "we flew up" to Deva Castle, from where we had a fabulous view of the city. On Tuesday morning, we listened to the medieval history of Transylvania and we were introduced with the history of baking of bread. Subsequently, the students built "ovens" in international groups. As it turned out, it was not that easy! After a short journey in the afternoon we visited a small settlement, where UNICEF's official staff had been waiting for us. Under their supervision and control, our students made postcards for the UNICEF. The amount received from the price of the postcards will go to UNICEF's bank account to help the people in need. On Wednesday, we went to the Dacian Empire, to the Sarmisegetusa region, and then we continued our way to the Arsenal adventure park. Even the mighty rain could not take away our adventures. We spent the night in the adventure park, where we had treasure hunt after breakfast, and then we conquered the crowns of the trees. It was really an adventurous day! On Friday, there was nothing left to do, just to get the diplomas for our participation and the recognition of UNICEF for the students' work. There was a week full of experiences behind us. Teachers could visit Hunyadi Castle in the afternoon while the students enjoyed their last afternoon with their host families and new friends. Next morning, our students were a bit sad to say goodbye to their "new" families, in order to return home to their "old" life. Thanks to the Romanian partner school for this beautiful and meaningful week!
